Project Overview

This major wastewater treatment plant upgrade included the construction of new process structures and the rehabilitation of existing facilities to increase treatment capacity and accommodate wet weather flows. The project featured new headworks, dewatering systems, pump stations, and SCADA integration, and required complex upgrades across 19 existing structures while constructing new facilities within an active plant. The team overcame significant design discrepancies and unknown existing conditions, including structural deficiencies and inaccurate plant data, and redesigned a failing equalization tank into an innovative “tank within a tank” solution without impacting cost or schedule. These improvements increased treatment capacity to handle storm flows exceeding 20 MGD, while Baker self-performed critical scopes including excavation, concrete, piping, equipment installation, and commissioning to maintain quality, schedule, and project control.
